BROCKHAM 09: THANK YOU
14 June 2009

The sun shone...the FA Cup (yes - the real one!) came...and 192 teams enjoyed a fantastic weekend of football.

We'd like to say thank you very much to every boy and girl who came along to play, all their friends and family who made it such a lively family day out, our sponsors and supporters, and especially all the Brockham parents, relatives and friends who gave their time voluntarily to help run the event.

It couldn't happen without you.

From Wednesday evening, the Brockham 09 microsite will be fully updated with dozens of pictures from the event, scores from every game and final group league tables.

BROCKHAM 09: THE CHAIRMAN LOOKS FORWARD
6 June 2009

"Another year has flown by and the team at Brockham Badgers FC are ready to launch another spectacular tournament; our fourth one on the bounce.  This is special year for our club. It was formed in 1979 and therefore we're celebrating our 30th anniversary. So we hope to provide a memorable experience for all those attending Brockham 09 - both from the Badgers and the visiting teams."
Grant Ashley, Chairman

With just a week to go to Brockham 09, our major fundraising event of the year, Brockham Badgers' Chairman, Grant Ashley has been looking forward to our fourth annual tournament and talking about how important it is for the future development of the club.

Nearly 200 teams will be visiting Brockham over the weekend of 13/14 June for an event that has swiftly established itself as one of the leading South of England youth football tournaments. Whilst the aim is to provide a quality, fun day that everyone will remember - Brockham 09 is also very important to the club's finances.

It helps pay our substantial running costs - such as the fees paid to Dorking Rugby Club and Mole Valley District Council for pitches to provide football for 300 boys and girls every week. It also supports a number of long-term projects that will secure the future of Brockham Badgers.

You can read Grant Ashley's message about the tournament here.

BROCKHAM 09: PLEASE GIVE US ONE HOUR!
16 May 2009

Brockham 09, Brockham Badgers' fourth annual open youth football tournament, is less than a month away.

Once again we're getting ready to welcome nearly 200 teams and more than 1500 players, boys and girls, to the Big Field for this year's event - on 13th and 14th June.

The tournament sold out in record time - and now the hard work begins to ensure an unforgettable weekend for everone who visits Brockham.

Brockham 09 is our major fundraiser for the year. In recent seasons it has enabled us to keep club subscriptions low whilst, at the same time, vastly improving our coaching for players - with new equipment, a major three-year professional coaching plan, and the engagement of a goalkeeping coach from Fulham FC's Academy.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!
The Tournament only works through the voluntary help of parents. This year, we're asking EVERY Brockham parent with a boy or girl in the club to give us just one hour each of their time. If everybody agrees to do that, we can fill up all our rotas for running the event - and everyone still gets to see their sons and daughters take part in our special weekend.

If you haven't yet signed up for a shift helping out, please click here to email the website with your details and preferred day. Let us know if you're offering to help for one hour, or if you're prepared to do a little more. One of our Tournament Committee will get back to you.

You can read more about the tournament here. Thanks in advance for helping make Brockham 09 our best event yet!

HAPPY ENDINGS
4 May 2009

After six years together, the U16Bs have ended their career as Badgers in the finest possible style. Not just with a win - but with a league championship too.

Needing just a point to become Horsham 'C' Division winners, Martin Bangs' team signed off in style with a victory at Ashington Cougars. Congratulations on all your effort over the years in the club.

Meanwhile, the U12As ended thier first season in the Surrey Youth League with a 4-2 home victory, rounding off a year that has seen them promoted as Champions to the Premier North Division for next season.

And the traditional Brockham Badgers end-of-season scratch tournament took place on Bank Holiday Monday - the Annual Friend and Family 5-a-side Fun Day. The weather wasn't up to much, but the football and the atmosphere were fantastic as almost 250 boys and girls took part from U7s to U16s - one of our biggest ever turn-outs for the day.

Congratulations to all who played and many thanks to organiser Alison Robins, as well as all the parents who helped with another smooth-running event.

REASONS TO BE CHEERFUL...
27 April 2009

ONE...The U12As are champions of the Surrey Youth League Division 1

TWO... The U13Bs are promoted to the Epsom and Ewell League First Division

THREE... The U16Bs are now just one point away from winning the Horsham & District 'C' League.

In addition, midweek results have confirmed that the U13As will finish third in their inaugural season in the Surrey Youth League Premier Elite - only AFC Wimbledon and Tooting & Mitcham are above them - a remarkable achievement for a village club.

Congratulations to all the boys. It's been a remarkable week of success for the Badgers.

THE WAITING GAME
21 April 2009

It promises to be a long week's wait for the Badgers, as results this weekend have put two of our teams on the cusp of glory next Sunday.

An 8-2 victory for the U13Bs has set up a promotion decider with rivals Epsom Eagles. The sums are simple - a win for the Badgers and they'll be playing in the Epsom & Ewell First Division next season. A draw won't do - although, either way, it's been a fantastic first season in their new league.

A six goal thriller at Dorking FC's Meadowbank stadium saw the U12As share the points with Meadowcroft. It leaves them needing one win from their last two games to secure the Surrey Youth League Division 1 title. The first chance comes at Whitton on Sunday.

And commiserations to the U12Bs. They had a'winner takes all' final match at Broadbridge Heath, with the Horsham & District 'D' Division championship at stake. Broadbridge Heath were the victors to pip the Badgers to the title by just one point. But second place is no mean achievement!

SAINTLY VICTORY
16 April 2009

After their first ever season amongst the Surrey Youth Premier Elite, the U13As have notched up another first....a trip to play a team of players from Southampton FC's Academy.

And on an immaculate pitch, Simon Coffey's Brockham team put in a fine footballing display. Many of their opponents were younger Under 12s - but as Academy players, they're amongst the best in their age group in the South of England. So the Badgers can take great pride in the fact they came away with a 2-0 win.

The U13As prepare to take on Southampton FC Academy at the club's Marchwood training ground.

The boys and their parents, relatives and supporters were a credit to Brockham not just with the quality of their play, but the way they approached the game. Our thanks goes to the Academy at Southampton FC for this fantastic opportunity for Brockham Badgers. There's talk of a rematch before next season.

REET ELITE
6 April 2009

Brockham have well and truly joined the ranks of the best in Surrey this season.

A 5-2 win brought an end to the U13As first season in the Surrey Youth Premier Elite - and sees the boys on course to finish third in the league. Only AFC Wimbledon and Tooting & Mitcham have done better than the Badgers.

It's a remarkable achievement for Brockham, a non-selective community club providing football for all, to be rubbing shoulders with some of the most elite youth football clubs in the country.

On the up - the U12As secure promotion to the Premier League.

And in a season of unprecedented success, this week has seen more to celebrate elsewhere.

The U12As played twice, won twice and secured promotion to the Surrey Youth Premier North. Three points from the next three games will wrap up the Division 1 title.

And the U9As were crowned champions of the Tadworth League without kicking a ball. Nick Torpey's team finished their matches last week and faced a nervous wait. As their title rivals completed their remaining games this weekend, Brockham got the news that it had another trophy to look forward to.

ANNUAL FUN DAY: DATE CHANGED
30 March 2009
The traditional end-of-season Friends and Family 5-a-side Funday will take place this year on Bank Holiday Monday 4th May. Please note, this has been moved from the previously advertised date, because of a number of our teams still having league matches that weekend. Further information is here, with full details to follow very soon.

NAIL BITING TIME
30 March 2009

Do the boys have any idea what they put the parents through?

With little more than a month of league action to go, it's tense at the top. And the nails of Badgers' coaches and parents are starting to show the strain.

Both the U11 Comets and U9As have finished their league matches, but they face a long wait to discover if they'll be celebrating this year.

The U12s - in pole position.
(Click on picture for large version)

The U9As went into their final game knowing that a win would guarantee them the Tadworth League title. Unfortunately, they slipped to a narrow defeat and must now wait nervously on the results of two rivals to see if they'll stay at the top of the table. The U11 Comets signed off in style with a 12-0 win over North Holmwood. But they must also wait to find out if it's enough to secure second place and promotion in the Horsham League.

Either way - it's been a tremendous season for both teams and they can be proud of their football.

Meanwhile, the U12As strengthened their grip on the Surrey Youth League First Division with a 7-2 win at AFC Epsom Colts. But with six games still to play, there's plenty more nail chewing to be done before the title comes to the Badgers.

FIRST AMONG CHAMPIONS
23 March 2009

A number of Brockham teams are challenging for honours this season, but the U10 Whites are the first Badgers across the winning line.

Their 1-1 draw against Hearts of Teddlothian wrapped up the Tadworth League C Division with two games still to play. Congratulations are due to Steve Smith and the whole squad. Read a full report here.

The U10 Whites:
"We've won the league - now where's the camera?"
(Click on picture for large version)

As we approach the business end of the season, there are exciting times ahead for the U16Bs, who came through a nail-biting penalty shoot-out against Steyning to book a place in the Horsham & District Plate Final. Well done to Kieran Mackrell, Jonny Sourris, Oli Goddard, Nathan Crosbie and Andy Higgins who all scored from the spot - and to goalie Will Hern who saved the first of Steyning's penalties. Congratulations also to captain George Nazer who did a great job keeping the team positive and supportive of those taking the penalties. Click here to relive the tension in pictures.

Rounding off a hatrick of top notch results for the Badgers this week, the U14As have also booked a place in the Horsham & District Plate Final, with a 3-2 win at Heron Olympic.
